Showered with Blessings

So, what gear and get-up does a new mom and dad really need for baby?!  We were blessed beyond measure by a dear group of friends from our home church in Wichita who showered us with everything from blankets, binkies, and bath towels to clothes, shoes, and toys.  My small group bible study friends and my sister Stephanie hosted the party and invested a lot of creative energy into making this a celebration!  Every gal who came to join in the fun played a special role in walking alongside Danny and me through our journey with Abigail.  Their encouragement, joy, and prayers made this shower an extra special time to give thanks to God and rejoice over this new baby boy!

Danny and I were also deeply blessed by our new church family here in Lawrence this past Sunday.  We've had the privilege to journey with many of them over the past few years, but there are lots of new friends who have wrapped their arms around us and already begun to love our son!  Our pastor, Jim, shared reflections from Abi's birth and life and helped us to remember God's goodness then and now.  One dear couple shared wisdom about parenting and the group prayed over our little family -- perfect timing heading into this week!  We were so loved by their words, encouragement, and gifts, and we feel truly blessed to raise our child in community with them.
