Fourteen Months Old

Happy 14 Months, little boy! You are growing so big and tall!

Titon is learning and developing in new ways each month. He likes to "chat" with us frequently while he's playing, making new sounds and making us smile! He shakes his head "no" and is getting pretty good at nodding "yes." A few times, we think he has tried to say "done!" His expressions keep us laughing! He gets a concerned look if we cough, but he thinks it's hilarious if someone sneezes. :) He also giggles if he sees Mom and Dad kiss. One of my favorite things he does right now happens when our little family holds hands to pray before a meal. Titon typically holds one of Daddy's fingers and one of Mommy's fingers for a few moments while we pray, but then touches our fingers together so Mom and Dad can hold one another's hand. :)

We are enjoying these early autumn days and playing outside. Mom and Titon try to go for a walk every morning. We met two more neighbors recently who have children the same age as Titon. It's nice to know some other playmates down the street. :)

We're so happy to see Titon enjoying his books. :) He reaches for them often throughout the day and likes to sit with us so we can read them together. He does a great job of turning the pages and pointing to different objects. He has a few favorite pages that he likes to see and he knows which books they are in and where to find them! :) The public library added an evening reading time for Titon's age, so now Daddy gets to come with us too!

He's taken new interest too in the designs on his clothes, especially if they happen to be balls, cars, or puppies. If we ask him, "Titon, what's on your shirt?" he looks down to check out the picture. :)

Titon loves to be on the go! He still crawls if he wants to get somewhere quickly, but he's having fun walking and smiles and giggles when he takes those steps. :) He's constantly exploring new places and developing his sense of independence.

"Is there room for me in here?!"

A few weeks ago, Daddy and Titon built a "fort" from blankets and pillows in the living room, and since then Titon has been on the hunt for "hiding" places behind furniture and under the kitchen table. It's cute to see him wiggle into tiny spaces and wait patiently and quietly for a minute or two until we "find" him. How he loves to be found! :)

It's entertaining to watch him test "cause and effect" and figure out new ways to play with his toys. We can make a game out of putting them away and he likes to help. In fact, he really loves to be a part of anything Mommy and Daddy are doing and we try to involve him in as much as possible... loading the silverware in the dishwasher, sweeping the floor, "driving" the laundry basket and putting away clothes, getting the mail from the mailbox, carrying small items. He's a great helper!

"Titon, show us your muscles!"

He works hard at buckling the belt on his chair and is so proud when he helps snap it together. :)

Testing gravity is definitely a favorite activity this month! It's fun to build a tower of blocks and make them topple. Titon decided to try it out by stacking his cup on his bowl all by himself!

Yogurt mustache! :)
